Prevalence and demographic differences in microaccidents and safety behaviors among young workers in Canada
INTRODUCTION: The present study examines the self-reported frequency of non-lost work time workplace injuries ("microaccidents") and the frequency of three types of work-related safety behaviors (i.e., safety voice, safety compliance, and safety neglect) recalled over a four-week period. INTRODUCTION : This study examines young workers' responses to unsafe work through the lens of the exit, voice, patience, and neglect typology (Leck & Saunders, 1992). Young people with dyslexia may be at higher risk of work injuries
Young people with dyslexia may be at greater risk of getting hurt on the job, according to a new study from the Institute for Work & Health (IWH). “The early indicators are that dyslexia contributes to higher injury rates among young workers,” says IWH Scientist Dr. Curtis Breslin, who led the study. “It could be that the particular problems with reading, spelling and writing that characterize dyslexia make it more difficult to understand and remember safety training or contribute to poor supervisor-worker communications.”
