Human factors that lead to non-compliance with standard operating procedures
The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens categorises biological agents into Hazard Groups 1 (negligible hazard) to 4 (highly pathogenic) according to their potential to cause human infection, the likelihood that infection could spread in the community, and the availability of effective treatment. Developing understanding of target audiences
Amongst the planned activities of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for 2009/10, a significant element is aimed at reaching and influencing two different audiences with regards to LEV (Local Exhaust Ventilation). These audiences are: supply-side stakeholders; and SME businesses that use LEV to control their employees' exposure to hazardous substances. Unstable Workplace Might Increase Employee Risk for Heart Attack
When employees feel ambiguous about their role in the organization and there is a lack of clear-cut communication, they might be at higher risk for heart attacks over time, a new study suggests.
